Digital Agent is a CLEC.  What does this mean for you?  
“CLEC” is an acronym for competitive local exchange carrier, a type of phone and Internet service provider that resulted from the Telecom Act of 1996. The goal of this legislation was the deregulation of phone monopolies, and the act fostered a new spirit of choice and competition in local phone service. As a result, Bellsouth and other “ILECs” or incumbent local exchange carriers, were required to let competitors interconnect their facilities with the ILEC facilities. Ultimately, consumers and businesses now had expanded options in the way of innovative technology and previously unheard-of pricing flexibility. In Georgia, CLECs are monitored and regulated by The Georgia Public Services Commission, an important factor to consider if you want accountability and lower business risk when it comes to selecting a voice provider.  Many resellers broker service for a number of different providers, but only ILECs and CLECs actually have their own facilities.
